Why Homeopathy?

In 2004, the World Health Organisation stated that homeopathy is the second biggest form of medicine globally. It has been used worldwide over 200 years. Today it is estimated that more than 600 million people use and trust homeopathy in 80 countries around the world.

Homeopathy is able to provide highly individualised treatment with no side effects. The remedy is selected based on the totality of the individual symptoms (mental, emotional and physical). Everyone knows that we experience the same headache differently. All these differences are very important in homeopathy and help us to find the right remedy, witch will stimulate the the body to come back to balance and heal itself. True healing is not simply the removal of symptoms; it is the removal of the cause of the symptoms. This is one of the reasons why homeopathy has become so popular. Patients and health practitioners have repeatedly found that not only can it relieve symptoms, but that it can also address the underlying cause of disease, thus improving the health of the whole person.

What can be treated?

Most people find their way to homeopathy after becoming disappointment with the solutions that traditional medicine can offer. For some people it is a the last resort to improve their health naturally or relieve the side effects of their regular medication. Some of the most commonly treated conditions are:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders

  • Chronic pain

  • Premenstrual Syndrome

  • Headaches

  • Fibromyalgia and Rheumatic Conditions

  • Spastic colon, Irritable bowel, other digestive disorders

  • Allergic conditions

  • Asthma

  • Behavioral Problems in Children

  • Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder

  • Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction

  • Recurrent Respiratory, Sinus, or Ear Infections

  • Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder

  • Bipolar Disorder

  • Infertility

  • Sexual Addictions and dysfunction

  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

I do not diagnose, and would always recommend people to continue their relationship with their doctor.  My vision is for a world of integrated medicine where we are able to recognise and work with our own strengths.

What the science says?

There are currently three NHS Homeopathic Hospitals in the UK. The majority of cases treated at these hospitals are those that have not been helped sufficiently by conventional treatment. In a recent, 6 year study of 6544 outpatients at Bristol Homeopathic Hospital it was found that homeopathic treatment had produced a positive improvement in 70% of cases.

Homeopathy is being criticised for the lack of research as well the small amount of active ingredient in the remedies. However, the experience of patients who have reported relief from symptoms, and the observation of cases where the placebo effect is irrelevant (e.g. in studies of animal health where the animal has not been aware of its treatment), continues to assure many, including some pharmacologists, veterinary surgeons and medical doctors, that homeopathic medicines are effective.
